A lot of typos but I think its worth the money. A good tutorial on VHDL.

Not a bad tutorial for the price. I've kindof breezed threw it and I'm just now sitting down to try some of the examples. Its a little hard to read sometimes because of the typos. The chapter on functions and procedures is almost unreadable. As is the case with trying to read a Kindle, you can never see the illustrations good and the code examples have the comments going onto the next line. I'll give it a 4-star.

Comprehensive job guide for supply chain careers

The APICS Guide to Careers in Supply Chain and Operations Management might just as well have been called "everything you need to know about hiring and being hired for jobs in supply chain management". Individual sections discuss Buyer/Planner, Distribution and Logistics Manager, Master Scheduling Manager, Materials Manager and Supply Chain Manager careers. Each section / job title coverage includes a full discussion of what the person in this job should know, what they would do day-to-day, their responsibilities, who they interface with and how, and much more.

Written for both the job seeker and the hiring entity, the career pack lists job descriptions that a prospective employer can use in internal documentation and in advertising job openings, as well as examples and tips for job seekers in putting together a resume that will highlight the proper experience, keywords, and interests. The included "competency model", based on extensive research and surveys of the field, lists personal attributes (competencies), academic achievements, workplace and leadership skills, knowledge areas, and specific job requirements to provide an unbiased, complete description of the job.

I don't know of any other source for objective and complete job descriptions like this in any other field. APICS has set the standard that should enable those involved with supply chain management to effectively communicate the human resource requirements and qualifications that will lead to a good fit between employer and employee - for the benefit of both.

APICS Guide to Careers

I endorse all of the comments provided by Deborah Turbide in a separate review. She has done an excellent job of describing the contents of the APICS Guide to Careers in Supply Chain and Operations Management. I can only add some of the attributes of the Guide that make it a valuable source for both individuals looking for a career path and companies seeking competent hires.

The Guide is extremely well organized and free of errors. It provides an overview of the five career paths and then drills down into the details. It is the result of a survey of practitioners so it is an objective compilation of years of "real world" experience. The format is logical and flows consistently for all of the career areas.

There is a great deal of detail that supports the idea that what is being described is a career path, not just another job. Recent graduates or persons early in their working life should not be intimidated by the vast amount of information shown in each area. Learning is a lifelong journey.

I think this could be a valuable reference for all Advising offices in high schools and universities. Perhaps it would take some of the mystery out of manufacturing. Many of today's students and graduates too late learn that manufacturing management careers are not the dirty, boring positions they have somehow been led to believe. Instead, the careers outlined in this Guide can be challenging and rewarding for many years.

The Best Gets Better

Hough Johnson's Pocket Wine Book has always been the best book about the world of wine. This years edition is, by far, the best yet. The description of many of the wines are fuller with much more info than in past years. If you enjoy wine, like me, you have seen and bought this book in the past. The 2017 edition is a must have for any wine lover-it is that good.

I've been buying these guides for years. Each one, especially this year, improves on the ones before. It's thicker than ever, no longer exactly a pocket wine book, but with so much useful information -- beginning with the inside cover vintage chart.

About the Author
Lynne Schafer Gross is presently a Professor in the Department of Radio-TV-Film at California State University, Fullerton. She has written ten other textbooks and hundreds of magazine articles. In 1999 she was the recipient of the Frank Stanton Award for Distinguished Contribution to Electronic Media Education and in 1997 she received the Distinguished Education Service Award from the Broadcast Education Association. She is a past governor of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has also chaired that organization’s Library Committee and Student Activities Committee. As Past President of the Broadcast Education Association she increased membership 24% and funding 59%. Professionally, she is currently Associate Producer for the video series “Journeys Below the Line” and in the past she was Director of Programming for Valley Cable TV and the producer of numerous radio and TV programs for public, commercial, and cable outlets. Her teaching and consulting have taken her to many countries including Malaysia, Swaziland, Estonia, Australia, Guyana, and Russia. Her doctorate is from UCLA.

Decent overview riddled with technical errors

The overall coverage of each aspect of the electronic media field is good - history, marketing, outlets, etc.
For an overview for those not familiar with the interrelated aspects involved, it's a good way to get up to speed.
That said, if you've taken marketing, computer history/science, film making, etc., the book will seem quite 'obvious' in what's presented and that makes for a dull class.
The BIGGEST flaw however is the numerous technical errors.
eg. LED - a 'tube'. No, no! LEDs are diodes. There's no 'tubes' involved and you can have a perfectly flat surface emit light as a LED. The latest quantum dot LEDs even do away with the diode aspect.
eg. Internet Explorer is an ISP. No, no! MSN is an ISP, IE, is a web browser.
eg. 'Low frequency' of cell towers is why many users can make phones calls from one cell simultaneously. No, No, No!!!! Frequency is high, sometimes like the 2100 Mhz band, almost that of a microwave. It's antenna focusing, multiplexing, time division, etc. that will allow many users to make calls using one tower.

And these are just from reading the first two chapters and briefly glancing at the back of the book! =o
If you dare learn these technical points wrong, expect to fail engineering, computer science, etc!

Due to these glaring errors, marked down to 2 stars. It should never have gotten past the editor and published as it is written!

Great price (but it did come with some mild water damage/rippling)

I'm including pics as a CYA, just to show that there was some damage on the books when i received them.

Not that it matters for the price of a rental, all in all it's great, that's why i gave it 5 stars. I just wanted to make sure that i had pictures of some of the areas, especially what appears to be some mild water damage (pages are rippled along the bottom). Nothing severe, but i'd hate to get dinged if they thought i did that.

Textbook Review

I loved the textbook the only problem is the time one must wait to get the textbook. Other than that the textbook has been very helpful. I thought about not getting the textbook because I thought I would not need it. Did not want to buy it because it was very expensive. Thanks to amazon I rented it for almost half the price!
